BENTON COUNTY DEMS (BC DEMS)*, ARKANSAS
(no December General Meeting)
BC Dems January General Meeting
January 23, 2023 Lunch 11 am Meeting 12 noon
Golden Corral, 2605 W. Pleasant Crossing Dr, Rogers
There being no additional volunteers in November to serve as BCDems Membership Chair or Publicity Chair for 2023, instead of electing officers for 2023 at the November General Meeting, a motion was made and seconded that BC Dems disband in 2023, with any assets of value donated to the Democratic Party of Benton County.
In order to provide adequate notice to all members not present at the November meeting, and with no December meeting normally scheduled, that motion was tabled until a January 23, 2023 General Meeting, with the provision that existing officers would continue in place at least until sometime in February 2023. Since a majority of our members do not renew until after the January meeting, a reasonable implication to have anyone eligible to vote is that those who were active members at the end of 2022 should consider their membership extended as well so they be entitled to vote on January 23 on disbanding.
There is no program scheduled for the January meeting other than a discussion and vote on the motion to disband. If that motion is approved, the existing officers will be empowered to act as required to terminate the organization.
BC Dems has continued to serve a useful role, but there is no realistic alternative to disbanding when there are not enough people willing to serve to keep the present organization functional. Noon meetings have tended to be a better time than evenings for retired senior citizens, but difficult for those still working. It appears at this point there just aren't enough senior Democrats in Benton Country that are interested enough in BC Dems to keep us viable.
For those preferring to avoid indoor meetings, the program portion may also be attended on Zoom starting at noon, by clicking on this link to Zoom meeting,
or specify Meeting ID: 875 3282 8495 Passcode: 285057

The General Meeting plans will be reviewed monthly based on the state of the COVID-19 pandemic. Unless there is another significant change, we plan to meet in person, with an on-line Zoom option for those who still have higher risk family members.
* Benton County Dems (formerly Benton County Democrats) is a social and informational organization that shares common goals with the Democratic Party, but this organization itself does not represent or serve as an agent of either the Democratic Party or the Democratic Party of Arkansas. We do provide some information about a separate organization, the Democratic Party of Benton County (DPBC), which does formally represent the Democratic Party of Arkansas for Benton County, and a link to their web site is included below.
